Job Description

BAE Systems Manassas is looking for a Computer Hardware Program Manager to support the Space line of business for the Electronic Solutions sector. Known as an industry leader for its suite of radiation hardened products, BAE Manassas leverages decades of expertise to build a robust Space product line. BAE Systems Space products can be found present on almost all of commercial, civil and national security space missions for the past 20 years; including GPS, weather monitoring, satellite TV and radio, exploring the universe; most notably the Mars rovers and missions to protect those who protect us. From semiconductor components to ASICS to Circuit Card Assemblies and Sub-Systems, our products are ubiquitous throughout Earth's orbit and beyond.

We currently have an opening for a Program Manager II in the Space Systems business area. The role provides an opportunity within the Space Systems Business Area's Program management function. Based in Manassas, VA and reporting to the Space Computers & Products Director, this position is a great opportunity for an employee interested in program management. As a Program Manager Ii, this individual shall:

  • Have demonstrated proven Program Management skills
  • Be familiar with Space quality manufacturing and test
  • Represent BAE Systems as the primary customer interface
  • Be highly motivated to work the front end of the business capture process prior to RFP
  • Have a computer hardware technical background and be able to interact with internal and customer engineers
  • Lead the execution of a portfolio of projects including hardware development and production programs
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to emerging program managers
  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Business Development and Engineering to identify new business opportunities and execution strategies for Space Systems Product Lines
  • Collaborate with Operations to understand and resolve procurement and manufacturing issues
  • Make strategic decisions in a fast paced environment
  • Ensure that opportunities receive the necessary support from the functional organizations to achieve program objectives
  • Ensure effective utilization of New Business resources within the business area to achieve technical and competitive advantages in the marketplace


Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
  • Demonstrated proven Computer Hardware Program Management skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills in order to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills in order to interact with and present to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Be comfortable working in an unstructured environment where the day to day responsibilities are fluid


Preferred Skills and Education
Should have experience with development and manufacturing of space quality hardware
8+ years with BS
6+ years with MS
PMP certification
