Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a talented, experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our Sensors & Electronics Solutions team in Fort Walton Beach, FL. The selected candidate will provide technical leadership and guidance for software engineering, development activities.

This position is customer facing and will provide Software Project Management reporting, documentation, and updates to Program Management.

Establish required management systems and provide leadership to assure the effective performance of work, close monitoring of cost and schedule, and take timely and effective corrective action.

Craft skillset development plans for software engineering team and seek opportunities for expanding individual skillsets. This includes, but is not limited to, researching existing training programs and developing site-specific programs for software engineers to increase their capabilities, and seeking professional conferences that are applicable to our core business for members to attend.

Establish communication to keep management informed of the function's progress and results.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include developing complex Radar software architecture and designs on projects. This role will be leading the evaluation of complex Radar and/or Electronic Attack software designs to identify design flaws.

Establish systems and software development processes and procedures within assigned product scope.

Establish software-specific peer review procedures and perform reviews of related documents and drawings.

Evolve processes to utilize the most effective new techniques as they become available, assuring the use of methodologies which minimize both design cost and product cost.

Provide, directly or indirectly, top level technical leadership for the assigned design discipline(s) including selection and exploitation of promising new technologies, long-term goals, etc.

Ensure effective communication between assigned engineers and all other participants in the design process.

Works closely with the Program Management and Business Development organizations to identify, define, and capture program opportunities consistent with the LOB's strategic objectives.

Required Skills and Education

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college / university in a related discipline with a minimum 10 years of experience, including supervision/management experience.

Must have experience managing multiple software projects simultaneously.

Requires extensive background in embedded software development in C and C++

Working knowledge of Radar systems and fundamentals

Experience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools

Experience performing software testing, validation, and verification activities

Previous experience in project leadership role or functional management

Demonstrated ability to develop, lead, and motivate technical teams

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DOD) Secret Security Clearance.
