Software Engineering Manager

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a technical leader with a passion for software engineering and the ability to build our next generation of software leaders.

Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) is looking for an engaged software engineer, leader and manager who can work with our teams to develop next generation software solutions for our advanced Space programs and has a desire to mentor engineers to help them grow in their careers.

Our mission is "We protect those who protect us", and as a Software Engineering Manager within C4ISR you will apply your skills to develop high-quality software that provides actionable intelligence for our warfighters through electronic products and innovative technical solutions. You will work inside the exciting and growing area of Space platforms and applications, helping develop solutions for our next generation programs.
In your role, you will manage a group of software engineers, providing them with technical mentoring, career guidance and periodic feedback. You will be an active member of the C4ISR Software Engineering leadership team, shaping the software culture and process and ensuring that staffing and technical needs of the business areas are met. You will engage our programs as a technical leader and grow your skills as an engaged software engineer. Technical roles will vary and may include software manager on smaller projects, technical team lead for a specific focus area of a project, subject matter expert on a specific project or a software architecture providing overall technical structure to a family of projects.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Experience providing technical direction to a team of engineers
Real-Time Embedded Software Development
Experience with VxWorks 6.9 or 7 Board Support Package and device driver development
Experience with Power Architecture
Experience with Git

Preferred Skills and Education

Experience as a SW Cost Account Manager
Experience with Software Estimates
Experience with Green Hills INTEGRITY and Linux

Experience with Power Architecture e5500

Experience with Jira

Experience with formal Software Configuration Management and Change Control
Experience with formal software development standards such as the Air Force Space Command's SMC or RTCA DO-178
