Software Engineer, Programmer

BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional individual with strong programming and software engineering expertise to support the Air Force’s next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system acquisition. Our customer is the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program Office located at Hill AFB, north of Salt Lake City, Utah. This will be a long term project with the weapon system anticipated to remain operational until 2075.

Positions will be located at or near Hill AFB, Utah.

Specifically BAE Systems seeks a highly qualified Software Engineer to take existing performance analysis computer codes and tools and create software to enable Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) such that these existing tools can exchange data between a database and an overall systems architectural model. In addition, a part of this software effort will be to create an enterprise level MBSE user interface. This Software Engineer will work with and support the weapon systems performance analysis team. In this position, the Software Engineer will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team of experienced physics based performance analysts, systems/architect engineers (using SysML and UPDM), other database and software engineers, and general analysts. The Software Engineer will support the team in planning and building MBSE application software for engineering analysis so that the analysis tools have 21st century interconnectivity. The software will allow connection to other external software tools (SysML artifacts via Cameo Enterprise Architecture, database applications and data files, all under configuration management). The overall goal is to plan and develop software required to effectively drive a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) analytical environment.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Twelve (12) years directly related experience (10 years with MS degree), BS/MS degree in Computer Science or comparable technical degree (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, etc.).

Analytical and engineering analysis skills.

Experience in MBSE or equivalent software system efforts.

Experience in working with engineering analysis software

Preferred Skills and Education Knowledge of ICBM analysis; Knowledge of DoD analysis

Experience in modernizing older software

Strong experience in C++, C#, Java, Matlab, Python, PowerShell, or similar OOP languages

Solid understanding of operating system fundamentals, object oriented design, software test engineering principles, tools, techniques, and execution

Is able to work in a dynamic environment, in concert with customers and contractors, in order to mature preliminary concepts to an eventual contractor provided final system design.

Demonstrated capability to comprehend large scale system architecture.

Experience using/building UML/SysML/UPDM and/or other MBSE artifacts.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Ability to work with a wide array of stakeholders, including senior management, Air Force customers, contractors, technical staff and end users.

Less than 10% travel
