Software Engineer Prin
Provide software engineering support to the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) to develop software to manage day-to-day operations of satellites. Responsibilities include developing and unit testing software simulations that model satellite characteristics during operations. Additional responsibilities include integrating the developed software with third-party software components and supporting software demonstrations at customer sites.
The ideal skill set for the job would include experience developing Java Enterprise Edition (EE) applications in Eclipse and familiarity with the JUnit unit testing framework. Experience with software integration is a plus. Familiarity with Git version control is another plus. The ideal candidate should also be familiar with DoD satellite systems and have experience in modeling and simulations software development.
This is a temporary position.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 3-5 years of Java software development experience. Preferred Skills and Education Experience developing Java Enterprise Edition (EE) applications in Eclipse and familiarity with JUnit testing framework.
Ability to think broadly and strike a balance between traditional and non-traditional thinking. Sees the interrelationships between M&S and other skill sets and domains.
Domain knowledge of one or more Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) missions, preferably via hands-on experience in conducting or supporting actual operations.
Critical thinking skills, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Ability to prepare a well-grounded, defensible argument.
Ability to work well with other organizations and personnel with disparate backgrounds.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
