Software Engineer: Java Development

BAE Systems’ F35 Lightning II program has an exciting opportunity for a software engineer to develop and deliver functionality using Java, Java EE, Web Development, and related technologies to process, manage, display, and maintain Off-Board Prognostics and Health Management (OBPHM) data which will be integrated and hosted with the F-35 Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS). The software system will manage data at both the squadron and the fleet level to support maturation of the F-35 System under LRIP and SDD contracts and provide engineering analysis capabilities of F-35 data.

The position requires software development experience, object oriented design and analysis experience, and software development experience with Java or related languages. Oracle database experience, and experience developing web applications, is a plus. Applicant will be responsible for requirements analysis, design/mechanization, development/coding, test, maintenance, and documentation of software for the F-35 OBPHM team. The applicant will work closely with other software and systems engineers, as well as the customer, to develop OBPHM software using an Agile software development methodology. The applicant will apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the software development lifecycle.

This role requires a desire and ability to work in a team environment, and good verbal, written, and communications skills are essential.

Applicant will interface with Customers, Application Users, and other technical and support personnel on a regular basis, and will interact with an international team of engineers to develop F-35 Software.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education The position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college / university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of related professional experience with a related Bachelor’s degree .

Requires experience in the following areas:

  • Software Development Lifecycles
  • Software Design and Implementation (Java, Java EE, Web Development experience preferred)
  • Understanding of Database Schemas / Interfacing with Databases (Oracle experience preferred)
  • Configuration Management
  • Customer / User interactions
  • Teamwork

Preferred Skills and Education Additional preferred skills are as follows:

  • Experience with military aircraft maintenance processes
  • Experience developing software applications in Java and C++
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and with Java Persistence Architecture (JPA)
  • Experience developing web applications using Java EE application servers, such as JBoss or WebLogic Server, using technologies such as JSPs, Servlets, JavaScript, Spring, JavaServerFaces (JSF), AJAX, XML, JAXB, CSS
  • Experience using Eclipse, Netbeans, or other similar IDEs
  • Experience developing software using an Agile software development methodology
