Software Engineer II

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a mid-level software engineer to join a team responsible for development of a moderate to complex information system, with an emphasis in networking . The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and enthusiastic with a sense of urgency centered on getting the job done. They should be able to function in a collaborative team environment but require a minimum amount of supervision/direction while working with minimal reference documentation.

Potential applications involve networking protocols, data processing at the packet level, and the adaptation of existing Windows based applications/plug-ins to a Linux baseline. Future development must integrate into both a Windows and a Linux environment.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Scientific field. Equivalent experience will not be considered.
8+ years of C/C++ Development in Windows
Experience with multithreaded applications
Experience with server application development
Experience with network application programming
Experience with real-time, interrupt driven, continuously running applications
Work location is in the Stafford/Quantico, VA area

Preferred Skills and Education

Development experience in Linux
Familiarity with network protocols at the packet level
Familiarity with network protocols at the application level
Working on Open Source Projects
Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) such as Snort, Suricata and Bro.
Software and Network Protocol Reverse Engineering and Malware Analysis
Scripting and automation (Bash, Python, etc.)
Unit Testing
