Ship Superintendent II

Job Description

BAE Systems Hawaii Shipyards is hiring Ship Superintendent II in our Program Management Department. The candidate will report directly to the Project Managers. The candidate will also interact with various department heads and their team along with our customers. The selected candidate will be responsible for assigning contract items including scheduling, operations budget, material tracking, enforcement of OSHA, Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies and coordination of production work force through the shift supervisors. Front line customer interface directly impacts Customer Satisfaction. Coordinates and supervises subcontract labor. Monitor lead trade items managing milestones and schedule and coordinating priorities within the project. Ensure that administrative activities meet all deadlines, reviewing Condition Reports and sequences for accuracy and content. Responsible for the planning, execution and close out of CMAV availabilities.

Coordinate Subcontractor work, monitoring progress and facilitating communication between Subcontractor and BAE production force. Maintain positive Customer relations, facilitating two way communications between Management and the Customer. Attend meetings as required. Ensures the workforce operates in accordance with OSHA and Company Mandated Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies. This includes regular safety meetings, participation in incident investigations and root cause analysis. Additional duties as assigned.

Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor degree with 5+ years experience or a minimum of 11 years experience with a High School diploma/GED and/or graduate from an apprenticeship school.
Previous shipyard or Navy experience
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience
Must be a US Citizen or Naturalized
Must be able to obtain and maintain base access to Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam
Must be able to work from 6am to 2:30pm M-F and overtime as needed
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)
Must have strong written and oral communication skills
Must be able to board ships, enter confined spaces with limited visibility and have the ability to climb up and down stairs and/or ladders of varying heights to complete the job or inspections
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors under all weather conditions
Must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment
Must have a valid driver's license
Must be able to interact with a variety of people in a variety of settings. Ensure that inter-departmental relations are maintained.
Ensure that requirements of the safety handbook are properly followed and enforced.
Perform similar, incidental and other duties as assigned

Preferred Skills and Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Marine Engineering
