SHE Spec II

Support Company health, safety and environmental (HSE) operations with implementation of Company HSE processes and procedures; including the identification of SHE hazards and ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, state/local HSE regulations and company policies as directed by HSE management. This opportunity is intended to be a development role within the Company HSE organization.

Primary duties include HSE operations task support at our NH/MA campuses; other duties to include industrial hygiene (IH) monitoring/data gathering, HSE program database administration, HSE-related training, waste management program oversight and other HSE support tasks, as assigned.

Site HSE operations tasks include regular visits to the smaller BAE Systems MA sites in support of HSE and local management HSE program implementation efforts, and also provide task support to the BAE Systems Merrimack, NH campus HSE lead.

IH support includes collecting area monitoring and performance data, documenting results in the IH data management system, managing IH sampling equipment and ensuring IH records are properly tracked and maintained.

The ideal candidate is expected to develop competency and then provide HSE-related training to employees and assist in developing incident reports and corrective actions to eliminate SHE hazards. Other responsibilities include investigating and responding to SHE incidents as directed, generally in the role of data gathering and sampling.

Waste management support includes monitoring Company operations; providing oversight for waste shipments and ensuring records are properly tracked and maintained.

Candidate must have some understanding of HSE regulations, and make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures and applicable regulations. The candidate must exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel. The candidate is expected to have adequate calculation skills and knowledge of chemistry, and anticipate that this will be a development focus. The candidate is required to have good computer skills, a working knowledge of MicroSoft Word products, and experience with database administration.
