Server Systems Engineer
BAE Systems in Washington DC is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support to Strategic Systems Program (SSP). Primary responsibilities will be providing tier 3 and higher system administration support for windows server and red hat servers. The section is responsible for server administration, storage area networks, and backup technologies. Candidate must have strong technical skills in system administration to include windows operating system as well as research and design architecture improvements. This must be done and completed in accordance to DoD IA requirements.
Plans and directs the technical execution of providing system administration support. Develops short range plans and schedules for the current technical effort. Supports development of long range plans and schedules for anticipated future work.
Ensures task plans, processes, work instructions and other controls are effective and compliant with defined processes
For work assigned to the section, track schedule, performance and other metrics as defined in Program/Project plans.
Provides personnel with day-to-day technical direction. Plans, directs and participates in technical activities associated with providing system engineering support.
Maintains responsiveness to customer requirements and maintains customer relationships. Regularly interfaces with customer representatives to support execution of current technical task(s) and planning for future activities.
Assists in the development of section related Basis of Estimates (BOE), Contract Statement of Work (SOW), Contract Deliverable Requirement Lists (CDRL), and other contract related items.
Ensures personnel are properly qualified to perform duties effectively. .
Plans and schedules own activities. Behavior meets BAE ethical standards.
May prepare technical studies, reports, and proposals in support of project development goals.
Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies in various environments including shipyards.
Shares responsibility for self-development with immediate supervisor.
Individual must be fully competent in all aspects of the disciplines required to provide system engineering support and is capable of evaluating, selecting, and adapting and modifying standard techniques.
Must be able to meet DoD CWF requirements within 6 months.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

- Proven experience in technical abilities
- Candidate must be thoroughly familiar with IT Infrastructure, virtualization, server administration, and windows operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high results
- Ability to interact with and effectively present information to employees, management and customers
- Ability to coach and mentor employees
- High degree of personal drive, initiative and ability to withstand resistance
- Experience managing storage area networks
