Senior Test/SW Engineer

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a "Hands On" Test Equipment Software Development Engineer. The applicant should have a strong background in software development with a good understanding of test instruments and interface hardware. The candidate must possess a demonstrated ability in designing, developing, maintaining and deploying Labwindows CVI applications (10,000 Lines of code or more).

Interface Protocol Support: IEEE-488, RS-485/422/232, Serial,TCP/IP, Ethernet

Demonstrated ability in designing, developing, and deploying multi-threaded ANSI 'C' (Lab Windows CVI), test applications.
Experience with high performance data acquisition and control applications
Experience with various communication protocols such as Ethernet TCP/IP, Telnet, RS-485, HotLink, IEEE-488, USB, etc.
Background in Electrical Engineering with a practical knowledge of Electronic Hardware used in Test Applications such as Oscilloscopes, Multi-Meters, Network Analyzers, Lasers etc.
Experience with Software Version Control methods and systems.
Ability to accurately estimate and deliver the effort required to complete a software project

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Demonstrated ability in designing, developing, and deploying multi-threaded ANSI 'C' (Lab Windows CVI), test applications.

Experience with high performance data acquisition and control applications

Experience with various communication protocols such as Ethernet TCP/IP, Telnet, RS-485, HotLink, IEEE-488, USB, etc.

Background in Electrical Engineering with a practical knowledge of Electronic Hardware used in Test Applications such as Lasers, Cameras, Oscilloscopes, Multi-Meters, Network Analyzers, etc

Preferred Skills and Education

Possess good communication skills including interpersonal communication and team communication
- Understanding the need for and be an advocate of disciplined approaches (requirements, processes, and practices)
- Experience with the application of industry standards related to testing
- Skilled in test program software development (drivers, utilities, executives, and Test Program Sets (TPS))
- Working knowledge of test solution hardware development (test adapters, cables, and interface modules)
- Skilled in test solution software and hardware integration
- Have a clear understanding of test architectures and software abstractions
- Be capable of collaboration, conformance, and compromise on departmental special projects and initiatives
- Have a closure-oriented and self-directed nature.
