Senior Systems Administrator

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and correcting hardware and software issues on servers, clients, and networks
  • Helping to maintain a complex server-based enclave, to include developing and managing an active directory configuration and developing and implementing vulnerability management activities
  • Planning and implementing installs and upgrades for networks and servers (hardware and software)
  • Executing the process for managing information assurance vulnerability alerts (IAVAs) and system security scanning for equipment suites in accordance with System Security Plans
  • Configuring servers, clients, storage devices, and network components
  • Testing, and installing capabilities that are new to the environment
Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer/Network Engineering, etc.)
  • Must have IAVA management experience
  • Experience providing direct customer service and direct enterprise-level desktop and/or server support
  • Experience with Microsoft-based servers, databases, and workstations (Windows/Linux operating systems, VMware, and Networking Switches, Routers, LANs, & cabling)
  • Must be able to work well both independently and within a team
  • Must be able to support planned, after hours activities on occasion
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Preferred certifications: CISSP, CCNA Security, MCP
  • Experience documenting and providing information for security accreditation and certification
  • Solid understanding of information security principles and practices and security protocols and standards
  • Experience with Network Security Technologies (e.g. Multiple Domain, PKI, SSP, and Vulnerability Assessment)
  • Experience with High Assurance platforms
  • Application integration testing methods
  • Software Deployment methods for applications, patches, and operating systems
  • OS and Application Hardening to include DISA, Best Practices, and High Assurance environments
  • Both Client and Server virtualization environments
