Senior Software Engineer

Job Description
BAE Systems is building a team of Software Engineers to support the installation, design, test, and deployment of Air Force Weapon Systems. These teams will be experienced with SecDevOps software development approaches, be goal-oriented and strive to exceed expectations. The teams will lead and provide full life cycle support to specify, design, develop, document, unit test and integrate, and to conduct problem resolution for large complex applications and scientific software and systems. These teams will prepare comprehensive written reports and presentations based on research, collection, and analysis of information assurance data.

These teams of Software Engineers will also be responsible for the following duties:
•Provides requirement decomposition/definition and engineering expertise to assure program DOD requirements are developed and sustained
•Adhere to sound engineering lifecycle workflow principles across hardware, software, network, interfaces, high-level/detail design, integration, verification, and regression testing
•Work with government stakeholders design, develop, integrate, and test solutions for complex technical requirements
•Analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls
•Prepare operating instructions and end user training
•Ensure software standards are met
•Ensure solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with program objectives. •Provide in-depth analysis related to the design, development, and integration of hardware, software, man-machine interfaces and all system level requirements to provide an integrated solution
•Support development of integrated system test requirement, strategies, devices and systems
•Direct and/or participate in all phases of risk management assessments
•Work in a dynamic and ever-changing environment while assuring key milestone objectives are satisfied with a focus within cost budget constraints
•Maintain awareness of full program goals and efforts to assure opportunities for shared resources and technical overlap is properly managed and utilized
•Be well organized, thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, leverage best practices, and innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude
•Able to handle multiple priorities and interruptions with minimal impact on productivity
•Demonstrate a high level of independent judgment and initiative; self-starter
•Other duties as assigned

Candidates filling these positions should have experience in one or more of the following Air Force Weapon Systems: Air Operations Center (AOC), Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS), National Space Defense Center (NSDC), Cyber Command and Control Mission System (C3MS), and Department of Defense (DoD) Intelligence System (DODIIS).

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's in computer science or related engineering disciplines and 8 years of related experience. Considered expert in related technical competencies
  • Extensive experience and expertise in software architecture
  • Extensive experience and expertise in full lifecycle development of embedded software for DOD technical development efforts
  • SAFe Agile methodologies
  • Experience with C++, Java, Java AS, JPA, Perl, XML/XSD, XPath, XQuery, RDBMS, Python, or other scripting languages
  • Experience with using testing tools
  • DoD 8570 compliant with proof of certifications. Minimum of CompTIA Security+ certified
  • Active TS clearance
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Senior-level (hands-on) experience with a variety of platform technologies and solution architectures, as well as full lifecycle deployment models (requirements development through operations)
  • Experience with COTS/GOTS/custom app integration
  • Experience with multi-classification deployments
  • Ability to break down technical concepts into business terms.
  • Proven problem-solving ability
  • Working knowledge of engineering and software development lifecycle
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies
  • SAFe Agilist certification
