Senior Research Scientist

Job Description

Are you ready for an exciting opportunity to develop state-of-the-art machine learning technologies in the Boston area? We are looking for a highly-skilled Senior Research Scientist seeking work in a fast-paced research and development environment. Leveraging your background in machine learning and GPU programming, you will work closely with other subject matter experts and software engineers to create and improve a broad range of technologies involving sensor exploitation. Relevant sensor domains include, but are not limited to, electro-optics, infrared, hyperspectral imaging, radar, sonar, EEG, x-ray, and acoustics. You must be able to lead an effort to understand and develop new technologies, prototyping new algorithms and assisting in their implementation according to your design. Experience designing, training, validating, optimizing, and testing neural networks is required. The ideal candidate will also assist in marketing and business development efforts to include customer presentations and proposal writing. BAE Systems FAST Labs TM is an entrepreneurial organization that performs R&D for customers in the defense and intelligence communities. We focus on algorithm and software system development involving computer vision, image processing, and machine learning algorithms for extracting information from multi-modality sensor data. We are based in Burlington, MA, and are part of a 1979 MIT spin-out company that was acquired by BAE Systems in 2004, which has since grown to more than 300 researchers, system engineers, and software developers, over 70 percent of whom hold advanced engineering and science degrees.

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Background in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, or image processing
  • Proficiency in Python, CUDA, C++, and MATLAB
  • Familiarity with programming on GPUs, FPGAs, and/or other embedded processors
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Pattern analysis and classification
  • Digital signal processing expertise
