Senior Process Engineer

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support the STS Business Area across the New Hampshire campuses. The individual will provide sustaining engineering, process development and new process implementation for the Infrared and Electro-Optical (IR/EO) factories through hands-on problem solving, project leadership, independent data analyses and application of engineering and lean manufacturing principles to improve product flow and product yields Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Responsibilities include:

  • Develops, maintains, and improves product build processes for repeatable fabrication of IR Systems
  • Initiates development of tools and fixtures to support product builds
  • Leads factory personnel to build robust quality products
  • Optimizes factory layouts and product flows to support required production throughput
  • Practices and leads lean manufacturing principles
  • Drives root cause and corrective action activities using 9 Step problem solving methodology
  • Monitors designs for compliance to design rules, standards and procedures in order to provide consistency in designs and manufacturing processes
  • Analyzes trends and defect data from factory to determine areas to focus on to improve manufacturing yield
  • Participates in Corrective Action Board meetings for factory and apply appropriate actions to improve manufacturing yield
  • Provides technical direction, mentoring and training of junior engineers where appropriate
  • Communicates effectively with engineering program team in order to improve product design and production throughput
  • Identifies and controls product critical processes (PFMEAs, Control Plans, SPC)
  • Performs and verifies capacity analyses to understand product throughput
  • Recommends and implements product and/or production cost improvements
  • Identifies, performs ROI, and implements new fabrication methods and equipment to support production builds

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Process Engineer Experience
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt training
  • IPC-A-610 certification
  • Knowledge of AS 9100C standards
