Senior Principal Quality Engr

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Senior Principal Quality Engineer who would be excited to join a leading top tier global aerospace & defense enterprise as part of the Survivability, Targeting and Sensor Solutions (STS) Quality leadership team. This new role is perfect for a Lean Six Sigma Certified Black Belt who is motivated by working on systemic and preventative improvement projects that have a broad impact across the STS business in the area of quality. This role is a great opportunity to get a broad exposure to numerous aspects of the STS business and leadership team. Specific duties generally include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead and manage process improvement projects in the STS business
  • Promote use of Six Sigma methodology and tools (DMAIC, Lean, Kaizen, and Design for Six Sigma).
  • Facilitate / Support other business initiatives as needed.
  • Work in coordination with leadership to analyze, monitor and assess critical activities affecting policy, organizational guidance, and developmental processes.
  • Develop recommendations to support mission goals, requirements and sustainment of improvements.
  • Lead data analysis, develops conclusions and completes presentations on improvements projects
While reporting directly to the STS Quality Director, the candidate will work closely with all levels of the organization across all Functions and Businesses to drive Business Excellence across the enterprise

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from a nationally recognized organization.
  • 8 years of work experience with Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ year active experience in the role of a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt- leading broad scope projects, utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Extensive cross functional experience in Manufacturing and Quality
  • Self-starter with excellent communication skills, data analysis skills, and ability to effectively coordinate across various functions within the organization.
  • Education: BS in Engineering or Technical Field, MS in engineering or a technical field preferred.



Preferred Skills and Education
  • Extensive cross-industries experience such as Automotive, Commercial, Industrial, Defense and/or Medical.
  • Extensive cross functional experience in Design
  • Education: BS in Engineering or Technical Field, MS in engineering or a technical field preferred.
