The Space Systems product line is seeking a Senior Principal FPGA Design Engineer to lead FPGA designs through all phases of development in support of advanced space payloads. These payloads could be either signal processing payloads or optical payloads. The candidate is expected to perform activities including requirements generation, design architecture, RTL coding, synthesis, basic test bench development, lab testing, and product support. The ideal candidate has experience implementing algorithms for signal and/or image processing applications for the space environment.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Eligible for Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • Experience in FPGA Design, including:
    • Ability to resolve higher level requirements and derive micro-architecture
    • VHDL (preferred) or Verilog HDL coding
    • Experience with digital design tools and simulators
    • Experience with designer-level test bench (VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog)
    • Familiarity with revision control (git, cvs, clearcase, etc.)
    • Familiarity with static timing analysis
    • Working knowledge of internal logic analyzer (ILA/chipscope/signaltap)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter and a good team player
  • Strong debug and problem solving skills
  • Experience and willingness for lab testing
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience with radiation mitigation techniques such as triple modular redundancy (TMR)
  • Experience with DSP fundamentals and FPGA implementation
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience dealing with legacy designs
  • Experience in hardware design and hands-on lab debug
  • Working understanding of optical systems
  • Experience with Xilinx ISE/Vivado or Altera Quartus
  • Digital simulation experience using Modelsim/QuestaSim
  • Experience with UVM/SystemVerilog
  • Experience with generating scripts (Perl, Tcl, Python)
  • Prior image detection and control algorithm implementation
  • Experience with high speed ADC/DAC interface, SERDES, Serial Rapid IO
