Job Description
BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 company, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Combat Vehicle manufacturing site in York, Pennsylvania. The Electrical Engineer supports the design, development, packaging, testing, and integration efforts of military vehicle-hosted electrical/electronic systems and components which may include including computing, local area networking, CANbus networks, video processing and distribution, intercom, sensor/actuator input/output control, warfighter-machine interface equipment, power generation and distribution, and cabling. In this role, the Electrical Engineer:

  • Researches, plans, designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates electronic and electrical systems.
  • Utilizes advanced modeling and analysis tools to develop product specifications, models, simulations, technical data packages, and integration and verification procedures.
  • Evaluates vendor capabilities, technologies, services and their ability to deliver required products or services.
  • Recommends design approaches for new or improved products and processes.
  • Provides engineering consultation to other technical groups.
  • Conducts and supports subsystem and system integration and verification activities, manufacturing and test planning, and failure analysis.
Typical Education & Experience

Required Skills and Education
  • Typically requires four years relevant experience with a technical bachelor's or two years relevant experience with master's degree in a technical area.
  • Versed in creating, reading, and comprehending schematics and interconnect drawings.
  • Ability to create and manage interface control documents.
  • Organizational skills to successfully manage the release of drawings, author engineering orders, and track changes.
  • Experience with work planning (for yourself or others) and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to operate in cross functional engineering tasks (electrical, mechanical, systems).
  • Effective communication skills to convey data, information, and technical results to customers, verbal and written.
  • Ability developing and maintaining effective relationships with customers to solve complex technical problems.
  • Leadership abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to access and move about a military vehicle during integration, troubleshooting and test activities.
  • Able to travel to military test sites to support vehicle testing.
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Experience working with and integrating electrical/electronic systems of military ground vehicles.
  • Experience with engineering design of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for military vehicles.
  • Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Systems Engineering and manufacturing knowledge a plus.
  • Working knowledge of EMI/EMC design and qualification principles.
  • Working knowledge of military electrical connector and electrical cabling specifications.
  • SAEJ1939, CANBus, 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet Protocols and equipment.
  • Low voltage (28Vdc) power distribution and management (Solid State Power Controller/Programmable Power Controller).
  • Vehicle Signal management (Sensor/Transducer Input/Output signal management) including support for diagnostics and prognostics.
  • Working knowledge of military electrical connector and electrical cabling specifications.
  • Experience working with electrical/electronic systems of military ground vehicles.
  • System specification and the process to verify specifications.
  • Integration of military communication/antenna systems including BFT, SINCGARS, DAGR, CREW2.
  • Experience using lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, network analyzers, CANbus analyzers, data acquisition) for test and verification.
