Senior Cyber Systems Engineer

Job Description

BAE Systems Intelligence & Security designs and delivers advanced defense, intelligence, and security solutions that support the important missions of our customers. BAE Systems has an immediate need for highly qualified Senior Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to support U.S Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Office and the Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS) programs.

Key roles and technical responsibilities include:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and lead Cybersecurity activities across the System Security Engineering domain, including non-enterprise system assessments and certifications, supply chain risk assessments, as well as software assurance assessments
  • Support the creation of required plans for successful execution of DoD defense acquisition programs in accordance with DoDI 5000.02.
  • Collaborate directly with government customers to create policy, process, and implement appropriate tools for architecting, modeling, and designing system security protections, as well as countermeasures with Cybersecurity techniques and technologies that can defend against adversary attacks.
  • Work across organizational boundaries and lead teams to evaluate the consequence of compromise of Critical Program Information (CPI) and apply systems engineering experience to define the defense-in-depth approach that best protects the system's critical technology.
  • Trained as a Cybersecurity subject matter expert to support programs across the I&S Sector, while also engaging with other experts across BAE Systems.

  • Required Skills and Education

    Minimum education and years of related/relevant skills required: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering/technical discipline, or similar and 12+ year(s) related or equivalent experience, training and/or certifications.

    Additional skills/experience required:
    • 5 years' experience as a systems engineer
    • US Citizenship and actively hold a TS clearance
    • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification
    • Experience with national Cybersecurity policies DoD A&A processes and procedures, and industry best practices
    • Conducting Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities for DoD and Intelligence Systems in accordance with Risk Management Framework and ICD-503 guidelines
    • Proficient in vulnerability assessment, control allocation and risk mitigation
    • Experience with DISA STIGs, IAVA compliance hardening, vulnerability scans and remediation

    Security clearance requirement: Selected candidate must have active Top Secret security clearance, with SCI eligibility

    Preferred Skills and Education
    Highly desired, but not required skills/experience:
    • Masters degree in Cybersecurity, engineering, or other technical discipline
    • Actively hold a TS/SCI clearance
    • Performing cyber system engineering activities
    • Understanding of offensive security tactics, techniques and procedures
    • Other offensive or defensive cyber security certifications (ISSAP-CISSP, ISSEP-CISSP, CCSP, CEH, OSCP, etc.)
    • Experience with designing, modeling, and building cyber resilient security architectures
    • Identifying and implementing vulnerability resolutions and/or mitigations
    • Developing system security plans including, security concepts of operation, risk management matrix, security control traceability matrix, security test procedures, and plan of action and milestones
