Senior Component Engineer - Space Systems

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for experienced engineering professionals to join our established and rapidly expanding Space Systems Product Line. We are a premier provider of advanced high-reliability space payloads, electronics, sensors and subsystems with products that have enabled a wide variety of civil, commercial, and national security space missions for over 25 years. The Space Systems product line is seeking a Component Engineer. Component Engineers work closely with the hardware design team to ensure all EEE components meet the program requirements and develops source control drawings as required. The component engineer represents BAE Systems in customer Part Control Boards to gain approval for non-standard components.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers.
  • Experience in electronic, optical, and mechanical component analysis and selection
  • Ability to research device manufacturer's product offerings to determine compliance to program requirements
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Able to work effectively in a multi-site or "borderless" environment
  • Eligible for TS/SCI
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Familiarity with design and fabrication of MIL-PRF-38534 Hybrid microcircuits
  • Familiarity with NASA and TOR space part requirement documents
  • Knowledge of Industry and Government standard qualification and certification requirements
  • Experience generating space level non-standard part approval requests and source control drawings to invoke program specific screening and qualification test requirements
