Senior Commodity Specialist

Job Description

This incumbent will assume a lead role for a Business Area in developing and implementing commodity sourcing strategies, with a focus on optics and optical assemblies. These strategies are based on existing and forecasted spend, demand and supply challenges, and marketplace conditions, ensuring alignment with the product sector objectives. This candidate will assist in the formulation and implementation of sourcing strategies, Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to ensure that BAE is leveraging spend, driving best value and improving overall supplier performance management, including Zero Defects. Supports teams on assigned programs required for the sourcing of material (optics as well as mechanical fabricated and electronic components and assemblies). This is accomplished following established and approved procurement policies and procedures in order to provide the lowest cost consistent with quality and service requirements while maintaining good supplier relations. Responsible for Procurement Compliance, Cost/Price Analysis and adherence to the Small Business Program guidelines.

Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

BS + 12 years of experience

5 + years of experience working with materials management and sourcing strategies.

Knowledge of and experience with optics, optical components and assemblies.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers.

Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Preferred Skills and Education

Lean six sigma certified

Experience in supporting Development Programs with part and supplier selection to achieve best value for BAE.

Experience/background with Sourcing strategies, supply chain risk mitigation and cost reduction initiatives.

Exceptional communication skills as this position requires regular communication with internal and external senior leadership.

Ability to influence across functional boundaries.

Demonstrated team building and coaching success.
