SCA Technical Instructor/Cours

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining curricula and presenting training material in the classroom and the lab for the AN/UPX-29(V) Maintenance Training Course.

The successful candidate will:

  • Organize and draft curricula that break a complex subject into blocks or units of instruction.
  • Create graphics and integrate them into curriculum.
  • Teach short technical courses in accordance with approved curriculum to maintain proficiency and to evaluate and develop new instructional techniques/courses.
  • Lead laboratory sessions with the goal of modeling practical troubleshooting techniques for US Navy and FMS technicians.

As professional system experts, AN/UPX-29(V) Maintenance Training Instructors are expected to have completed Naval Enlisted Classifications (NECs) having to do with IFF maintenance, NECs 1572 and 1571, or equivalents. They are expected to have extensive Fleet experience with the maintenance of IFF systems and they are expected to have an Instructor NEC (9502) or equivalent and Fleet training experience. In addition to meeting these requirements, all AN/UPX-29(V) instructors undergo a long certification process (usually taking a year or more) before being assessed as qualified to teach the course unsupervised.

Additionally, instructors are also expected to be working system technicians who will work on non-training activities such as technical assistance, system grooms, and lab maintenance.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
