SCA Electronic Technician III (Radar Systems)

Job Description
The selected candidate will apply standard practices and techniques in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or other technical disciplines in providing support for ongoing technical programs. Will support the installation, upgrade and testing of various Air Traffic Control and Combat Identification systems on US Navy and Military Sealift Command ships and shore facilities. Duties will include inspecting, testing, adjusting, and certifying complex assemblies and systems for compliance with specifications and quality assurance practices; repairing malfunctions by adjusting, calibrating, aligning, or modifying circuitry using hand and power tools; setting up standard test apparatus and conducting operational tests; installing system equipment, cabling (copper and fiber optic), field changes and engineering changes; reviewing installation drawings for accuracy, redlining and initiating change requests; development of quality assurance documentation and performing other related duties as assigned.

Must be willing to travel 20% - 40% of the time to assist with shipboard/shore-based system installations and test events. Will exert frequent energy, such as climbing to go aloft for antenna maintenance and lifting/carrying heavy objects. May work extended hours or weekends to support installations and test events. Will work on-board ships to accomplish assignments and occasionally in disagreeable environmental conditions. Assigned work shall include: assisting and providing guidance to technicians of all skill levels and acting as a job leader performing technical integration, evaluation, and testing; working on projects involving Air Traffic Control and Combat Identification equipment; other related technical duties. Will work closely with BAE Systems personnel, subcontractors, and on-site government customers. BAE Systems wants people who are self-starters that work well independently and in small teams.

This position is located in Chesapeake, VA.

There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Chesapeake, VA or surrounding areas.

Typical Education & Experience
High school diploma and at least four years of related experience

Required Skills and Education
High school diploma and at least four years of related experience
Experience/background in electronics, communications, navigation, and/or radar systems
Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
Ability to follow engineering drawings, change orders, work instructions, and test procedures
Ability to climb aloft for antenna maintenance and lift/carry heavy objects
Ability to lift 40 pounds
Experience using computers (Windows, MS Word, MS Project and MS Excel)

Preferred Skills and Education
Certified Solder Technician
Certified Quality Assurance Inspector
Cable fabrication certification
Knowledge of Technical Specification 9090-310G and NAVSEA Standard Items
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) - Maritime (OSHA 1915) training
Certified NAVSEA Navy Shipboard Fiber Optic Installer
