RF Design - Junior Systems Engineer
BAE Systems is developing advanced Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems in support of the Electronic Warfare (EW) domain across a wide variety of platforms including technology for RF sensing, signal processing, identification, detection, tracking, and geo-location of emitters. Key technology advancements in ESM systems will improve air/sea vehicle situational awareness, survivability, and executing suppression and destruction of enemy air defenses.
The Electronic Systems’ ESM Capability Group is looking for a RF Systems Design engineer to work as part of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team to design, integrate, debug, and test next generation ESM systems. The work will be conducted at BAE Systems Electronic Combat Solutions division and responsibilities will include individual technical contributions on a related range of programs, system development, test planning and execution in a field deployment environment.
Team contributor for RF system design, simulation, analysis, and hardware implementation. Prepares documentation for system designs in accordance with established systems development processes and procedures. P erforms systems engineering functions such as performing trade studies, originating RF design concepts, and performing systems level integration and test for highly complex systems. Verifies and validates aspects of system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.
Prepare and present technical presentations to peers, senior leaders, and Customers. Support business development efforts. Generate ideas for potential proposals. Contributor to new proposals. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Highly developed interpersonal skills with strong written and oral presentation skills for interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, internal and external customers, suppliers and other performers. Ability to work independently in an engineering development environment. Excellent problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability, along with follow-up and monitoring skills.
Technical Skills/Experience (at least two required): Digital/Analog/RF circuit design experience. Hands-on RF hardware build, integration, test, and debug experience of RF circuits and assemblies. Experience operating electronics and RF test and measurement equipment (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc.) Modeling and simulation of RF systems, subsystems, and components. Basic microwave theory and technology. Ability to work in an Engineering Laboratory environment.
Strong computer skills for modeling, simulation, analysis, and testing as well as preparing appropriate reports and technical documents: MATLAB, Simulink, Python, ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS, LabVIEW, SysML, MagicDraw, MS Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint/Project/Visio, etc.
Preferred Skills and Education Masters of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, GPA of 3.0 or higher, and 3 years related work experience.
PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, GPA of 3.0 or higher and relevant collegiate project and research experience.
RF path modeling & analysis, system link budget analysis, model-based engineering.
Experience leading small technical teams.
Active (or active in the past two years) United States security clearance, Secret.
