Research / Software Engineer
The Advanced Sensors andProcessing (ASP) group within the Sensor Processing and Exploitation (SPX) Directoratewithin BAE Systems Technology Solutions (TS) has an open requirement for a motivatedResearch Software Engineer to develop high-performancecomputing solutions. The ASP group is currently engaged in numerous cutting-edgeprojects including: development and transition of airborne wide area persistentsurveillance imaging systems, development of low-SWaP multi-sensor systems, developmentof novel ultra-low power computing architectures, and algorithm deployment on lowpower hardware devices for video, signal, and data analysis.
An appropriate candidate musthave expertise in high-performance algorithm implementation and optimization.Experience with modern development tools, computation libraries, and opensource toolkits is expected. The ideal candidate would also have interest and familiaritywith computing system architectures.
Candidatesshould have hands-on experience with typical software development processesincluding: 1) requirements capture, analysis and documentation, 2) code review anddesign presentation, and 3) test and validation. Candidates should be familiarwith modern source-control and project tracking tools. The candidatemust be able communicate with diverse sets of external engineers and scientiststo analyze and prototype algorithms and architectures and transition todeployable, well-tested software. Occasional travel will be required to overseesystem field-testing.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Requires:
- B.S. in engineering or scientific discipline
- 2+ years professional research software
development experience with M.S. (4+ years with B.S.)
- Excellent organizational, documentation, collaboration,
and written/verbal communication skills
- Good mathematical background with algorithm
implementation expertise in C++
- U.S. citizenship
Preferred Skills and Education Preferred:
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer
- Proven track record of migrating from MATLAB
prototypes to deployable code
- Demonstrated prior technical experience in the
1. Heterogeneous processing systems and software algorithm
interactions with FPGAs, GPUs, ASICs, and DSPs
2. Cross-platform (Linux and Windows, Intel and
