R&D Deputy Program Manager

BAE Systems is looking for a junior level project manager who wants to help in the research and development of cutting edge communications, signal processing, and high speed data processing solutions. As a Deputy Program Manager, you will provide project management for several R&D programs in the Technology Solutions Signals Processing and Exploitation group’s Advanced Exploitation directorate out of Merrimack, NH and Burlington, MA where our primary customers are DARPA and other government labs. This position requires a comprehensive interface with Contracts, Subcontracts, Finance and Purchasing experts within the company as well as with Government customers and will provide a significant opportunity to work with several leaders in these areas. The responsibilities of this position will be to support the program managers as needed in many of the following areas:

  • Assist in the management of the cost, schedule, and performance of the contract
  • Serve as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management
  • Assist in preparing project execution plans and helping to identify technical and business resources needed
  • Review status of projects and budgets, manages schedules and prepares status reports
  • Assess and manage risks and opportunities
  • Assess issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Work with subcontractor and potential subcontractor companies
  • New business capture and proposal management

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education

  • Required education: Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years work experience in a lead role or equivalent experience
  • Program management experience
  • Active DOD SECRET clearance with ability to obtain TOP SECRET

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Familiarity with technical programs and engineering product development
  • Experience with cost management
  • Management and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Willingness to seek Program Management Institute Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
