BAE Systems is seeking a Quality Director as part of the newly formed Countermeasures and Electromagnetic Attack (CEMA) Business Area. The Quality Director will provide support to the Missile Warning Systems (MWS) and Advanced Warning Systems (AWS) in the areas of quality assurance, continuous improvement and lifecycle management. In this role, you will work closely with senior leadership to provide value-added solutions and support. The successful candidate:

  • Enjoys working with and coaching quality managers and business leaders to continuously improve execution success across portfolios, programs and projects
  • Has the ability to influence in a dynamic environment and respond to changing customer and market demands
  • Possesses strong communication and presentation skills to facilitate effective communication at all levels of the organization and across multiple cultures as well as into the customer or partner community
  • Needs to be a hands-on leader willing to take responsibility for resolving technical challenges, ensuring successful tactical execution, as well as creating and implementing the strategic vision
  • Has an agile leadership style and able to adjust one's approach to fit the situation as a driver, coach, mentor, or teacher
  • A visible leader who takes a collaborative approach with others and comes across as approachable
  • Relates well with individuals at all levels of the organization, builds appropriate rapport, constructive and effective relationships

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide direction, supervision, and guidance to ensure alignment with quality policy, strategic objectives and organization goals that drive to Zero Defect plans and Strategy
  • Collaborate with senior leadership for planning, execution, and management of process improvements, projects, and other initiatives
  • Develops a quality assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training/developing team
  • Manage compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and minimize risk to employees and liability to the business
  • Develop, implement and improve program quality plans and procedures
  • Ensure performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards
  • Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies and data related to production
  • Lead integrated senior management teams to determine strategy and tactical deployment, improve performance, lower costs, and generate innovative solutions
  • Investigate problems and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies
  • Interface with stakeholders to ensure requirements are met
  • Recommends corrective actions, dispositions, process optimization and modifications
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Organizational skills - can marshal resources to get things done, orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal, use resources effectively and efficiently, and arrange information in a useful manner
  • Exhibits a high degree of technical credibility and communicates highly technical information in a simplistic and easily understandable way
Required Skills and Education
  • 10 Years of project, program and portfolio Quality Leadership and management experience in automotive or aerospace, commercial and defense hardware and software technology risk management
  • 5 years of experience with Best in Class Manufacturing Principles, techniques, and Zero Defect tools and processes
  • Demonstrated mastery of the functional domain in Quality Science, strategy, standards and controls.
  • Strong written, analytical and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Collaboration skills, project management skills
  • Capable of influencing a wide range of audience, and having demonstrated leadership skills to win support without direct reporting structure
  • Formulate strategic vision, define implementation plan of action to achieve success
  • Track record of building teams and turning program salient from Red to Green
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Technical BS/MS degree (in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) and/or MBA
  • AS9145 APQP/PPAP, prefer CQM/OE certification from ASQ.
  • LSS Green Belt, prefer Black Belt certification from ASQ.
  • Quality 4.0 implementation experience preferred
