Project Manager I (ATC Shore Systems)

Job Description

BAE Systems Inc. is looking for a well-qualified project manager to join our team for an exciting opportunity supporting shore-based Air Traffic Control systems.The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team providing project management services in support of the Customer's Air Traffic Control Systems.

Responsibilities:
- Perform proejct management tasks tasks including opening and closing project assignment sheets, contributing to the creation of work breakdown structures, tracking expenditures and procurements, developing Statements of Work, and creating milestone based schedules.
- Develop and manage BAE Systems, Inc project team as the direct supervisor. Disseminate information to the team, professionally develop team members, delegate tasks accordingly, perform periodic reviews, etc. Positive team building and personnel -development is essential to the success of this project.
- Work closely with other managers and functional areas to ensure resources from other areas are available and utilized as needed.
- Initiate and support customer and stakeholder engagement, successful program performance, and on-time delivery of shore Air Traffic Control Systems.
- Track project progress to financial, schedule, technical and/or new business performance objectives.
- Work within Microsoft Project to create and maintain schedules that include resource loading and dependencies between sub-projects.
- Control the schedule and work with the customer and team to expedite operations that delay schedules, alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions, and devise "what if" scheduling scenarios based on potential new and growth work.
- Identify and track potential project risks and discuss possible outcomes and solutions with the customer.
- Arrange installation site visits as needed, distribute deliverables, facilitate documentation gathering, and support communication between subcontractors, military installations, team, and customer.
- Serve as Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for subcontract Statements of Work (SOW). Manage subcontractor tasking, approve subcontractor time sheets, review subcontractor deliverables for accuracy, and facilitate communication between subcontractor and customer.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, engineering change orders, work instructions, test procedures, and shop travelers for associated projects.
- Work closely with Quality Control (QC) representatives to ensure that high quality products are delivered to the customer.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in an engineering, engineering management, or business field and 6 years of related experience to include supervisory experience

Excellent computer skills with MS Office Suite (including MS Project)
Sound interpersonal skills for interfacing and coordinating with the company, personnel, customers, and suppliers
Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance

Preferred Skills and Education

Experience managing projects within a DoD or military environment
Familiarity with and/or experience assisting on airport/airfield planning projects to include installation of airport/airfield equipment preferred
Knowledge of air traffic control systems, military electronic systems, technical terminology
