Program Manager - RDX Capacity

BAE Systems, one of the world’s leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is hiring a Program Manager at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant.

Reporting to the Program Director – Modernization, the Sr. Program Manager will support several multi-million dollar projects at Holston Army Ammunition Plant to improve the capacity of RDX production. Specific duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

o Ownership of project quality, budget and schedule.

o Monitors specific projects at Holston with regard to the following project management practice areas that he/she is assigned to manage:

  • Project Integration
  • Scope Management
  • Time Management (schedules)
  • Cost Management
  • Change Management
  • Proposal Generation
  • Communications Management
  • Risks/Opportunities Management
  • Construction Progress / Construction Monitoring
  • Customer Relations Management
  • Holston Support Groups Coordination (Safety, Environmental, Security,etc.)

o Provides regular reports to the Program Director on all projects at Holston projects he/she is responsible for.

o Solves complex technical problems by providing leadership for developing project plans and their implementation.

o Communicates summaries and recommendations to the Program Director based on assessment of internal and external resources.

o Foresees difficulties and reacts to communicate and avoid misunderstanding.

o Serves as primary interface for internal and external customers.

o Point of contact for subcontractors, providing leadership and direction to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget constraints.

o Determines project scope of work, project performance criteria and fitness for use.

o Identifies work elements of the project.

o Assigns work and follow-up as project demands.

o Sequences and schedules the project work elements and determines the resources required for each work element.

o Prepares cost estimates and establishes budgets for the project work elements.

o Partners with Procurement Department to obtain bid quotations from subcontract and materials suppliers.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education o A four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or closely related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

o Fifteen (15) years relevant and progressive experience managing multi-million dollar industrial (preferred) or commercial (required) construction projects.

o Experience managing project schedules and coordinating subcontractors.

o Must be comfortable directing subcontractors as well as engineering and logistical activities to support construction projects.

o Solution-oriented attitude. Preferred Skills and Education o Experience as a construction manager or site superintendent.

o A minimum of 3 years of experience working within projects on design and engineering, design-build, construction, or engineer-procure-construct (EPC) projects with a concentration in the industrial sector preferred.

o Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent.

o Experience in managing State or Federally funded projects.

o Experience managing projects in the chemical industry.
