Program Engineering Lead - Space Systems

Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking an engineering lead, or Project Technical Lead (PTL), to support electronics development for the Space Systems product line and the Electronic Solutions sector. Known as an industry leader for its suite of radiation hardened electronics products, BAE Systems leverages decades of expertise to build a robust product line. BAE Systems space products can be found on almost all commercial, civil and national security space missions for the past 20 years (most notably the computers on all of the Mars rovers). As a PTL, the selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Technical/operational leadership of a project or group of projects working with the program manager and customer
  • Defining, generating, and reviewing project requirements and documentation
  • Understanding and executing the technical content of the program across a team
  • Performing technical studies to refine project requirements
  • Monitoring the project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined, maintained, and met
  • Providing the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and the program team for staffing needs
  • Ensuring all necessary process items are followed and completed, and all reviews and approvals are received
Typical Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
Requires:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, or Math and 15 years experience
  • Current TS clearance with SCI eligible
  • 8 years of space or related development and engineering experience
  • Experience with space, aeronautic, or other relevant systems from an architecture, design, integration, test, and delivery standpoint
  • Experience with space electronics design, including components, boards, boxes, software, interfaces, data management schemes and controls
  • Experience with project planning and execution including staffing, scheduling, and cost tracking
  • Experience leading cross functional/organizational teams
Preferred Skills and Education
Prefer:
  • Strong technical knowledge of RF systems
  • Strong technical knowledge of Electro-optical or laser systems
  • Knowledge of space or ground acquisition types and programs in the DoD, GEOINT, SIGINT or Communications domains
  • Understanding of procurement and integration to meet system requirements and deliver product
  • Ability to independently plan and execute work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of EVMS, program scheduling, task codes, program metrics, and staffing determination
  • Understanding of engineering processes and procedures across all disciplines (systems, software, and hardware)
  • MS in Science, Engineering, or Math
  • Current TS/SCI with active Poly
