Production Buyer

Job Description
BAE Systems in Louisville, Kentucky has an opportunity for a Procurement Analyst within Weapon Systems in the Platform and Services Sector. This position is responsible for all planning and sourcing activities required to assure continuity of supply for their assigned materials. Activities include sourcing, request for proposals/quotes, analyzing costs and the ability to write a price and/or cost analysis, lead negotiations, and place compliant purchase orders according to internal procedures and FAR/DFAR regulations.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant work experience such as procurement/buying/cost estimating role or equivalent experience is required

Ability to multi-task and perform in a dynamic, fast paced, changing manufacturing environment
Experienced project management and organization skills to effectively manage timelines, customer requirements and work flow requirements
Proficiency to analyze quotes, comprehend and perform price/cost analyses, and source selection/justification
Ability to lead formal negotiations (price, schedule and supplier exceptions to contractual requirements)
Ability to place a PO of medium to high complexity and process a high volume of POs
Execute existing commodity strategies to include ongoing development of savings
Responsible for all contract deliverables and managing supplier performance
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal customers and suppliers.
Ability to perform effectively and independently
Strong problem solving skills and ability to think strategically
Ability to effectively manage job responsibilities with minimal supervision
Ability to quickly assimilate new information, processes and tools

Preferred Skills and Education
Working knowledge of Federal and State Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal and State Acquisition Regulations (DFAR)
Working knowledge with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
Understanding prime contract flow down requirements
Advanced degree and/or certification in CPSM, CPM, CPIM, Six Sigma
Technical background in engineering and/or reading drawings
Machining experience
Passion for continuous improvement and lean initiatives
