The Product Center Director will direct, coordinate and exercise supervisory authority for planning, organizing, controlling, integrating and completing programs/projects for the Power & Propulsion Solutions (PPS) product management center. You will manage the design, development and improvement of various advanced, technologies and products related to hybrid-electric propulsion and power management applications. You will ensure that products and services provided by the product center achieve technical, schedule and financial objectives by leading teams in an inspirational and ethical manner.
Specifically, the successful candidate:
Supervises the initiation, organization, planning, authorization of work, execution, control, management of change and close out of assigned programs according to the company's LCM and other applicable processes. Oversees the development and establishment of procedures and guidelines for daily operation of the assigned programs, and directs initial preparation, execution and revision of project plans. Monitors program performance for technical, schedule and financial objectives. Identifies and implements corrective actions, as required. Ensures all programs are reviewed monthly and have risk mitigation plans in place. Constantly and aggressively seek leaner, lower-cost design approaches and methods while ensuring technical, schedule, development cost and DTC requirements are met and/or exceeded. Develops working relationships with other functions (business development, account management, engineering, operations, finance, etc.). Provides mentoring to newer personnel in the organization. Communicates with staff on business status/needs. Coordinate the growth of advanced technologies and capabilities within PPS. Coordinates the execution of product roadmaps to support business growth. Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies. Develop strong working relationships with other functions both within Electronic Systems and across BAE Systems nationally and internationally. As a key member of the PPS leadership team, the Product Center Director supports the business growth initiatives and fulfillment of long term business plans.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a Master's degree is preferred. More than 12 years of work experience as a program manager and/or technical/project manager is required. The successful candidate will have direct experience with a commercial business model through proven experiences with commercial development and production programs, demonstrated growth skills, and solid management skills.
Demonstrated technical leadership and domain expertise in reliability growth, mechanical packaging, rotating machines, and power systems for vehicle applications.
Extensive technical leadership experience in the development of complex electronic systems and leading engineering teams on new business pursuits.
Excellent project leadership skills.
Broad understanding of the functional discipline and product development lifecycle.
Demonstrated the ability to make decisions with clarity in an environment of ambiguity and uncertainty.
Proven mentoring and coaching skills.
Work borderlessly to solve problems, streamline processes, secure resources and ensure a culture of affordability, innovation, diversity & inclusion.
Demonstrated track record of leadership, accountability, and ownership.
Demonstrated track record of challenging status-quo and continuously seeking business execution improvement.
Strong analytical, planning and project management abilities.
Ability to identify and assess problem areas and develop cost effective solutions
Preferred Skills and Education
PMP Certification preferred.
