Principle Investigator - Fusion, Battle Management, and Computing
Fusion, Battle Management, and Computing Technologies (FBC) is a cutting edge advanced technology research, development and deployment organization that develops state-of-the art Awareness, Planning, and Trust software and systems for defense and intelligence community customers. Our technologies enable our customers to make sense of the ever increasing volume of data for optimal situational awareness; collaborate and plan across systems and domains with varying degrees of autonomy; and interact seamlessly and securely with these systems.
Our Awareness technology centers on tracking the motion of objects, combining and fusing data to provide a comprehensive understanding of the environment using all data sources. Planning address the need for dynamic mission and sensor orchestration across multiple domains and timescales to inform, deter, defend, and defeat – from strategic multi-day Courses of Action to microsecond sensor resource optimization. And we develop the technology to ensure the resulting applications are trusted via secure, validated processing and trusted man-machine interaction. Our portfolio of programs spans the spectrum from cutting edge advanced technology research and development through deployment. As a part of BAE Systems Research and Development Organization, we synergistically leverage the diverse portfolio of the broader BAE Systems enterprise to accelerate transition of technology to new discriminating capabilities to programs of record and operations.
We execute R&D across a wide-range of technologies including: multi-intelligence source sensor fusion; sensor resource management; optimization, probability, and control theory; Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination systems; real-time mission management incorporating integrated auto-routing, assignment, and scheduling; distributed planning and control; electronic warfare battle management; autonomy; computational analytics; pattern learning, data mining, normalcy modeling and anomaly detection; high-performance computing; inherently secure computing; model-based software engineering; and human-machine teaming. Our cutting edge projects and opportunities advance the frontiers of science as well as contribute to practical systems that solve real problems.
We are seeking a highly creative, entrepreneurial, and experienced Principle Investigators to lead and engage in the full contract research and development program lifecycle – from program capture through execution and technology transition. You will develop program concepts and lead teams to create complex systems and algorithms that solve some of the most pressing R&D challenges of our time. You will engage as a mentor and advisor to junior staff. You will work with our world-renowned university partners to extend our patent-pending technologies. The projects you direct are for the nation’s most prestigious research organizations including DARPA, Army Research Labs, and Air Force Research Labs. You will meet with BAE Systems business units, members of the military, program managers in DARPA, and other industry experts to understand precisely which capabilities are needed, and use those needs to guide research.
You will lead and guide business capture in the creation of advanced technical solutions to address our customers’ most difficult challenges. You will lead proposals and proposal teams and interact with customers during business capture phase as a capture lead. You will be the Principle Investigator leading teams developing innovative technology and serve as the primary technical interface to our research and development customers. You will supervise the efforts of our contractors and sub-contractors, and work collaboratively with your counterparts when teamed with multiple internal and external organizations.
The ideal candidate shall have demonstrated the ability to be an individual contributor as well as lead a team of scientists and engineers to capture and execute advanced research and development programs.
You must be a team player with a proactive attitude and the capacity to be creative and productive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You must have strong writing and general communication skills, with strong presentation skills. You will participate in meetings with customers, co-contractors, and/or sub-contractors. Travel may be required to support customer or collaborator meetings, software integration and testing, capability demonstrations, and internal organizational meetings.
