Principal Systems Engineer - Data Link Systems

Job Description

This opportunity is available for a System Engineer who is experienced in all phases of system development including system definition/architecture, requirements, design, integration, test and qualification of systems. The ideal candidate would have experience in secure military communication systems and/or electronic warfare systems.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Experience with the design of secure communication systems including system synthesis, design trade-off studies using CAIV, and developing design documentation such as Prime Item Development Specifications and Interface Control Documents
  • Ability to define and analyze system requirements, and establish functional allocations using DOORs
  • Ability to perform integration and test of secure communication or electronic warfare systems
  • Experience with generation of test equipment requirements, system-level test procedures, Functional Performance and Qualification test plans & procedures, and test reports
  • Ability to analyze or define new waveforms to meet customer requirements (propagation, bandwidth, data rates, etc)
  • Understanding of wireless networking technology
  • Experience with preparing technical white papers and proposals, and ability to present to potential customers
  • Ability to work well in teams, and/or lead a team
  • Knowledge of communications waveforms including Common Data Link (CDL) and Bandwidth Efficient CDL (BE-CDL) is strongly desired
  • Experience with Phased Array and Dish antennas is strongly desired
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Master's Degree
  • CDL/BE-CDL design, integration & test experience
  • Familiar with DOD Acquisition process
  • Active Secret Clearance or TS
