Principal RF Engineer (Antenna Design)

Job Description

Primary experience is related to high-precision tracking radar systems and associated electronic disciplines to include digital and analog signal processing, high power RF transmitters, receivers, antennas, antenna positioning systems, computers and computer interfaces, visible and infrared optical sensors.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Experience with Large Phased Array radar, expert in radar algorithms such as beam steering, beam forming, tracking and signal processing.
Highly developed interpersonal skills for interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, internal and external customers, suppliers and other performers.

Technical Skills/Experiences (at least two required): Hardware development, modeling and simulation development, laboratory and field testing, digital signal processing, open systems architecture, RF path modeling & analysis, system link budget analysis, real-time operating systems, model-based engineering.

Preferred Skills and Education

Provide technical support for various engineering systems. Including Large Phased Array radar, radar algorithms such as beam steering, beam forming, tracking and signal processing.

Designs, develops, tests radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, or products. Includes antenna design, both reflector and array systems, frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers.

Provide advanced analysis on various types of antenna components and antenna systems, using tools such as Matlab, ADS, HFSS, Microwave Studio and GRASP.

Take responsibility for the concept, design, analysis, modeling and initial breadboard verification testing of the phased array in support of communication and radar applications including system resource management, antennas (including phased arrays), atmospheric propagation of RF signals, RF System Design/Analysis, Analog/Digital Receiver Architecture, Digital Signal Processing, Detection Theory, Tracking and Estimation.

Assist with the development of electromagnetic and phased array antenna modeling and simulation tools when applicable. Assist systems engineering functions such as developing and managing systems level requirements, developing operational systems concepts, performing system architecture trade studies, originating design concepts or performing systems level integration and test for highly complex systems. Verifies and validates aspects of system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.

Other Responsibilities:
Prepare and present technical presentations to peers, senior leaders, and Customers. Support business development efforts. Generate ideas for potential proposals. Contributor to new proposals.
