Principal Quality Engineer
BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Principal Quality Engineer who would be excited to join a leading top tier global aerospace & defense enterprise as part of the Survivability, Targeting and Sensor Solutions (STS) Quality leadership team working at the Lexington Business Center.
Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished material product. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment, and conducts quality assurance tests. May be certified in lean and six sigma quality methodologies and utilize quality tools to help drive continuous improvement.
This person will be reporting directly to the Program Quality Manager on a daily basis and will have direct contact with all Program related personnel. Each day will be a series of validation and verification activities based upon the individual Quality contract requirements and will require travel to various suppliers from time to time. This position will and can lead to additional classified programs which require Quality oversight of a different level. May be certified in lean and six sigma quality methodologies and use quality tools to help drive continuous improvement. A vast majority of the tools that are needed to be utilized are Microsoft Office and some familiarization of the Tip QA Corrective Action tool or similar Corrective Action Tool
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline plus 6 years experience or equivalent
- Experience in the role of Quality Engineer during the development and manufacturing phase of the project
- A minimum of 5 years experience using Microsoft Office and Internal Quality Root Cause and Corrective Action Systems such as TipQA (TM).
- Experience in data mining and analytical skills for process control and statistical correlation studies
- Ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers.
- Excellent communication skills
Familiarity with MIL-STD-883 Workmanship and Test Methods Requirements for Electronic Components
Understanding of ANSI/ESD S20.20-2007 Protection of Electrical and Electronic Parts Class 1 ESD Controls
Working knowledge of AS9100D
Formal Lean Six Sigma Training/ Experience: Green or Black Belt Certified
