Principal Engineer - Missile defense

Job Description

Senior Systems Engineer to support the Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions Product Line within the Survivability, Targeting and Sensing Solutions Business Area.

This position is for a Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical expertise of anti-missile seekers for missile defense applications. Required skills include mission analysis, missile threat assessment, optical system architecture, EO/IR performance optimization, and algorithm requirements definition and design. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of IR focal planes, ROIC fundamentals, telescope optics, cryogenic cooling, optical coatings, and bandpass filters. Knowledge of video image processing, stray light, and contamination control is desirable. Candidates should have experience working on CMMI level 3 programs and formal systems engineering process, system integration experience, experience with testing in a lab environment, ESS, acceptance and qualification test. Responsibilities include performing systems engineering functions such as requirements definition and analysis, trade studies, analyzing test data and modeling to determine solutions and system performance improvements, and developing verification strategies.
Candidate will define and manage modeling and simulation tasks and report results. Matlab skills is a requirement.

Experience in developing EO architectures and writing system specifications, allocating requirements to subassembly specifications, and creating test plans/strategies and procedures for these complex systems. Ability to communicate technical concepts and designs to both internal and external customers is required.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Scientific Discipline with expertise in EO/IR sensor technology is required.

- Eligible for a Secret Security Clearance
- Matlab, including toolboxes
- Simulink
- Comprehensive familiarity with Excel including the built-in functions, macros and graphing
