Principal Chemical Process Engineer

Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world's largest defense contractors and a Fortune 500 Company, is hiring a Principal Chemical Process Engineer to help us produce energetic materials for our government and commercial customers. As a Chemical Process Engineer you will work directly with our production teams to help troubleshoot problems, manage improvement projects and help make the process the best it can be.

Primary responsibilities include:

o Provide process engineering support to the Explosives Manufacturing Department
o Develop new and redline existing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams
o Develop new and redline existing Interlock Narratives
o Ensure required production schedules are met in accordance with quality standards, safety requirements, regulatory standards
o Facilitate and/or support improvement projects, maintenance projects and aid in process troubleshooting
o Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting within Process Control Systems
o Provide on call Technical support
o Author, maintain and update necessary Procedures & assist with training when applicable
o Develop cost estimates for new and existing products
o Provide field support for I/O and interlock checkout
o Troubleshoot Process, Instrumentation, and equipment problems
o Develop Process Flow Diagrams and Heat & Material Balances
o Interact with Customers and Suppliers
o Lead/support Process Hazard Analysis for new and existing processes
o Interact with R&D to scale-up and/or develop new processes
o Develop and implement quality, safety, and process improvements

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

o Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Controls, or similar discipline.
o A minimum of 6 years or more years relevant experience.

Preferred Skills and Education

o Previous Experience with Control Systems, specifically Siemens PCS7.
o Previous Experience in Production Operations.
o Hazard Analysis - HAZOP, PHA, FMEA, etc.
