Job Description
BAE Systems is searching for a forward-looking Senior Networking Engineer to join the IT Transformation team. The role reports directly to the Vice President, IT Transformation, and will bring network experience to an existing, diverse team of expert engineers in Cloud, cyber, applications, data and analytics. While this is not an operational type position, it requires daily interaction with our business sectors and other IT teams. The primary focus of this team is to create roadmaps in the 12 to 18 month range, support various proof of concept endeavors, and review/support the creation of advanced enterprise architectures. The person should be able to speak to, explore, and rapidly ingest peripheral technologies tangentially related to networks, such as industrial sensor topologies, 5G, DevSecOps, Containers, etc. In addition, this person will be asked to provide knowledge transfer from lessons learned during pilots and to create appropriate documentation to support operational handoff of technologies to other IT teams.

Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed drawings for network architecture.

Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.

Conducts testing of cutting-edge network designs. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, switches etc.

Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network and speed digital transformation activities.

Provides technical network architecture leadership.

Ensures that any new network designs can operating efficiently and optimal, and still ensure that all service level agreements (SLAs) and CMMC requirements are achieved.

Identify customer requirements and design complex network systems.

Lead or participate in planning and assessment project phases and lead/assist with project design/implementation phases.

Conduct feasibility studies and participates in the development of technical standards.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience supporting: Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), A10 load balancers, and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).

Demonstrable experience with Cloud services and networking concepts, e.g. AWS or Azure.

Ability to leverage Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Ansible, Terraform, etc.) to automate infrastructure creation.

Deep understanding of SD-WAN concepts, as well as micro-segmentation, network security tags (aka trustsec or similar)

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)

Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) appliance

Must have a firm grasp of networking within a Kubernetes / Container ecosystem, specifically Container Network Interfaces (CNI) such as Calico, Flannel, Weave, etc.

Experience with DevSecOps

Experience with 5G integrations
