The role of a Network Services Systems Engineer (Senior) is to serve as the final escalation point for all Unified Communications issues in the DTE Phase II solution. The position will work directly with the Microsoft Vendor, DTF and Engineering to resolve technically complex Network issues.

  • Serve as an escalation point for Jr. System Engineers & System Administrators for all issues related to Network environment within the Desktop solution
  • Installs, maintains, and troubleshoot complex high availability hardware and software
  • Monitor, respond and resolve network issues
  • Works directly with Microsoft PFEs/Vendor, Engineering and DTF on improvements of the DTE Solution
  • Identify issues and create improvement processes to help with the reduction of incident outage times
  • Provide Technical Leadership to the entire Tier II – III Team
  • Mentors Jr. System Administrators and System Engineers; including On-the-Job Training to staff
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures including DoD STIG requirements
  • Develop and maintain documentation of all processes associated with administration of the network and duties performed by network & system administrators

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Candidate for this role should be flexible, possess hands-on experience, self-motivated, and able to effectively influence others to deliver accurate results for the customer. Required skills include but are not limited to:

  • Extensive Network design and administration
  • Hands-on experience and troubleshooting with LAN/WLAN/WAN/MAN technologies
  • In-depth experience working with Access Control Lists, TCP/IP, VLAN, VRF, Port Security, IP Multicast, routing and switching
  • In-depth knowledge of High-Availability computing and networking (load balancing, DHCP, DNS)
  • A combination of 5+ years of experience to include the following areas:

o Cisco and Brocade Switches

o Cisco Instant Access

o Video over IP

  • Experience in a large, geographically dispersed environment
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Skills and Education
  • Background in Information Security and comprehensive hands on experience with Cisco ISR routers and Firewall management
  • Windows 2012 R2 administration
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • McAfee Next Generation Firewall
  • Knowledge of Dell Networking Appliances
  • Possess one of the following certifications: CCNA, CCNP
  • 8570 compliant (Within 90 days of hire)
