Military Vehicle Field Service Technician III

BAE Systems Platforms and Services has a current opening for Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) Field Service Technicians to support the Combat Vehicles Program in multiple locations.

Provide technical expertise on designated vehicles or platforms. Technical expertise includes intimate knowledge of all mechanical, electrical power management, automotive, fire control and other subsystems and ability to identify and troubleshoot faults. Provide leadership and direction to field service and field modification programs, and training for maintenance and administrative support personnel. Typical duties will include travel to military bases to perform vehicle upgrades and modifications, inspections, repair, services, and maintenance. FSR will provide supervision and guidance to contract maintenance and other support personnel. Minimum Education and Experience High School Degree/GED and 4+ years experience Required Skills and Education 1. Knowledgeable of US Army Maintenance system

2. Able to interpret and use all types of engineering drawings, schematics, diagrams, and specification sheets

3. Ability to read, understand and follow written technical work instructions, modification work orders (MWOs) and other technical specifications

4. Able to use computers in report writing, data management, and word processing

5. Able to use all types of power tools, lifting devices, carrying or support equipment, including safe use of slings and chains

6. Familiar with the use and operation of Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) for automotive, electrical, electronic and fire control systems

7. Must be able to function with minimal supervision

8. Ability to troubleshoot and repair military track vehicles and power plants

9. Ability to train soldiers

10. Provide technical guidance to internal and external customers

11. Must be willing and able to travel to remote locations with little notice

12. Ability to record and communicate complex field data to GSD management

13. Must be able to communicate effectively with government and military personnel of all ranks

14. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment

15. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

16. Good planning, time management and organization skills

17. Sound interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with Company personnel, customers, and suppliers

18. Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations

19. Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external customers

20. A considerable level of analytical ability to analyze and make repairs

21. Substantial communication skills to serve as point of contact with customers, resolve conflicts

Preferred Skills and Education 1. Existing Secret Clearance preferred
