This position will report to the BAE Space Systems Technical Operations Manager in Manassas Virginia. The team supports three different focus factories in the facility. First there is the Component Packaging and Test Manufacturing line that produces radiation hardened microprocessors, memory devices and custom ASICs for the space community. There is a new Microwave Module Assembly and Test line which produces microwave assemblies that support Identify Friend or Foe products delivered internally to our Tactical Systems product line. Lastly there is the Circuit Card Assembly line that produces a variety of space grade CCAs and boxes to the space community for commercial, civil and defense users. The team you will join is highly technical and experienced and is a welcoming team environment which will ensure learning and growth.
This position will focus on projects and daily operations within our Microwave Assembly and Test factory. Opportunities for work in the other factories will be occasional but consistent with our Manufacturing and Process Engineering disciplines. These disciplines offer technical support to the business and the factories to assist in daily execution of factory work, develop new or improve existing processes for both manual and automated processes and assist with general continuous improvement initiatives.
Typical Education & Experience
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience
- 5+ year of experience working in Commercial/Military/Space electronics manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of experience developing new (or improving) existing manufacturing processes
- 5+ years of demonstrated performance leading Root Cause/Corrective Action activities using a regimented methodology
- Clear written and verbal communication skills are required as the selected candidate will be providing instructions to Operators and Technicians on the factory floor.
Experience working with:
Automated Pick & Place, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), Automated epoxy dispense, substrate lamination, die bonding, wire bonding (wire, ribbon, ball and wedge), CSAM, environmental screening, seam welding, CNC milling.
Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing principles, Statistical Process Control, PFMEA, Control Plans, regimented Root Cause/Corrective Action methodologies, etc.
