Medical Technician ll

Job Description

The Medical Technician will act as one of the professional medical technicians at the shipyard. This includes promoting worker's safety, assisting in managing injuries and illnesses and return workers to their duties in a caring, and efficient manner within their professional scope of care. Responsible to the Medical Department Lead/Supervisor for the maintenance and administration of the occupational health programs. Champions healthy work conditions at the site in support of efforts to reduce or eliminate health hazards for employees. Assists in the administration of the company's Occupational Health and Safety program, policy and procedure's ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations set by Federal OSHA and other agencies including Department of Labor, Department of Transportation, Coast Guard, State agencies and various customer requirements.

Required Skills and Education
HS diploma and 1 year as an EMT or greater experience (nurse, paramedic)
Ability to cover shifts as needed, 1st , 2nd or 3rd shift
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Biometric Identification System badge or meet eligibility.
Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and computer knowledge.
High level of effectiveness in a changing, fast paste environment.
Ability to work independently, takes initiative, makes improvements to the function and drive Safety and Health excellence and performance.
Customer focused, collaborative and able to effectively operate in a highly matrix organization.
Functional and technical knowledge and skills at a high level of accomplishment.
Ability to interpret and apply Federal OSHA and local codes.
Ability to maintain a professional attitude and defuse unsettled situations to create a safety and health culture for employees.
Must have occupational health background with emphasis in heavy industrial settings
