Mechanical Technician I

Work shift is weekend night shift which is 3:00PM to 3:30AM Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Candidate would work 36 hours a week and be paid for 40 hours. Plus receive a 15 % Shift Differential.

Works from engineering design drawings, diagrams, schematics, verbal or written instructions to test and build mechanical and/or electro-mechanical units, systems and subsystems. Provides support to higher level technicians or supervisor, working in a research or design/development environment. Receives detailed instructions and equipment requirements from supervisor or engineering personnel.

Required Skills and Education

Follows specific written or verbal engineering instructions to construct simple mechanical operating units and/or models.

Solders, bonds and performs other joining techniques from specific instructions.

Utilizes pneumatic, hydraulic and measuring equipment such as vernier calipers and micrometers and follows prescribed procedures to test and troubleshoot mechanical systems.

Performs varied mechanical operations of a simple non-repetitive nature including the fabrication of mechanical devices.

May service or repair simple instruments and equipment.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Preferred Skills and Education

Requires a High School diploma plus one (1) year formal study in Mechanical Engineering Technology or two (2) years of related experience. May also require specific certifications, i.e., solder.
