Job Description

PURPOSE:
Works from engineering design drawings, diagrams, schematics, verbal or written instructions to test and build mechanical and/or electro-mechanical units, systems and subsystems. Provides support to higher level technicians or supervisor. Receives detailed instructions and equipment requirements from supervisor. Performs a variety of non-standardized assignments of low to moderate complexity. Selects and adapts standard procedures or equipment. Receives initial instructions, equipment requirements and guidance from supervisor . Shows progression and ability to interpret and handle more complex assignments. Ability to work with management, peers, and customers.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Customer focused.
  • Follows specific written or verbal engineering instructions to construct simple mechanical operating units and/or models.
  • Communication with management, and peers via pass down notes as required.
  • Solders, bonds and performs other joining techniques from specific instructions.
  • Utilizes pneumatic, hydraulic and measuring equipment such as vernier calipers and micrometers and follows prescribed procedures to test and troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.
  • Performs varied mechanical operations of a simple non-repetitive nature including the fabrication of mechanical devices.
  • Follow up to ensure maintenance work orders are completed and closed out
  • Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on moderately complex machinery
  • May service or repair simple instruments and equipment.
  • Familiar with maintenance and work order systems.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.


  • Required Skills and Education

  • Constructs, adapts and modifies assemblies, systems and sub-systems to troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
  • Utilizes pneumatic, hydraulic and measuring equipment such as vernier calipers and micrometers and follows prescribed procedures to test and troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.
  • Performs varied mechanical operations of a simple non-repetitive nature including the fabrication of mechanical devices.
  • Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on moderately complex machinery
  • May service or repair simple instruments and equipment.
  • Follow up to ensure maintenance work orders are completed and closed out
  • Able to interpret work orders
  • Ability to follow simple schematics


  • Preferred Skills and Education

    Requires a High School diploma plus one (1) year formal study in Mechanical Engineering Technology or two (2) years of related experience. May also require specific certifications, i.e., solder.
