Mechanical Assembly Specialist

Job Description

PURPOSE:
Performs extremely complex mechanical assembly, disassembly and modification on subassemblies and systems.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assembles, disassembles, modifies and repairs various pre-production and production mechanical subassemblies, assemblies and systems.
  • Analyzes various discrepancy sheets in order to perform necessary mechanical repairs.
  • Plans work sequence by interpreting blueprints or other specifications.
  • Utilizes and maintains various power tools, drills, grinders, routers, IEWS, saws, riveters, etc.
  • Performs complex body repairs using fiberglass plastic body filler and sheet metal.
  • Performs layout of hole locations and cut-outs using precision measuring equipment.
  • Instructs, aids and checks the work of lower classified employees.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.


  • Required Skills and Education

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Minimum skills required are knowledge of complex body work; ability to lay out holes and cut-outs from layout drawings; and knowledge of various power tools. Must meet specified certification requirements per company and customer standards, normally acquired through four (4) years of mechanical assembly experience.
