Maintenance Supervisor II 2nd shift

Job Description
Works under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager; potentially through a lead Supervisor. This individual is required to understand the job responsibilities of the different maintenance classifications and generic "Skilled Trades" (plumbing, electrical, Mechanical). Troubleshooting skills, coordination skills, and managerial skills are required to manage/lead bargaining unit personnel to (1) keep the site's equipment running at peak performance, and (2) manage resources and projects. This individual must be conversant on mechanical / electrical prints and technical documentation to troubleshoot, repair, construct, install, and/or disassemble equipment. Individual must possess proactive approach and ability to lead change through cross-functional teams.

Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.
Supervises and coordinates the activities of Maintenance employees and Manufacturing employees. Ensures compliance with company, site, and departmental policies, procedures and contracts. Recommends and/or initiates personnel actions. Champions continuous improvement. Plans, schedules, estimates, prioritizes, coordinates and assigns the activities necessary to install, repair, maintain, inspect, and disassemble the site's equipment. Coordinate with other departments such as facilities engineers and floor support engineers for new installations, continuous improvement implementation, and site renovations/improvements. Inspects completed work for quality, timeliness, compliance with applicable codes and relevant regulations as well as company standards and fiscal consideration. Manages implemented schedules for preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment and facilities and maintains specific records of similar nature. Maximizes utilization of work force.
Ensures availability of material and equipment; organizes and monitors supplies storage areas; maintains accurate inventory of material; and maintains high housekeeping and safety standards. Evaluates current practices and seeks improvements in efficiency.
Provides technical guidance to skilled trades in following disciplines, Plumbing, electrical and mechanical trades. Reviews project budgets; monitors labor and material expenses; ensures costs are properly charged; identifies and brings deviations to management's' attention. Contacts within the company in the normal course of duties to discuss problems, present data, or make recommendations; contacts with vendors.
Provides training in a variety of safety/maintenance topics including the effective utilization of the maintenance logs, completion of routine maintenance specific to the facility, equipment operation, employee safety, etc.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience, Associates Degrees considered

Required Skills and Education
Satisfactory completion of a relevant State-certified Apprenticeship program, or Associates degrees in relevant discipline; including 5 years' or 7 years experience supervising trades in an industrial environment. Supervising work such as equipment installation and maintenance.

Preferred Skills and Education

Prefer a relevant technology degree, an engineering degree, and/or skilled trade's experience. Prefer experience with relevant applications in a defense environment. Prefer 7 or more years of supervisory experience.
Ability to supervise and determine accuracy and quality of installations, repairs and on-going maintenance in electrical, mechanical trades. Ability to read schematics and assembly drawings.

Knowledge of National Electrical Code, NC and CNC equipment, national and local building codes, programmable computer controls, and familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations; and ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

Knowledge of problem solving methods and techniques.

Knowledge of scheduling methods and techniques.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary in dealing with persons inside and outside the organization.
Experience with root cause, continuous improvement and lean a plus.
