Logistics Support Specialist
These positions are based out of Aberdeen, MD and Oceanside, CA with extensive travel involved.
Performs a variety of warehousing duties at BAE Systems work locations and remote test sites. The logistics specialist is responsible for stock control, receipt, and issue; turn in, shipping/packing, inventory development and control, and other duties as required for spare parts and test equipment as well as other related materials in accordance with applicable directives.
As directed, responsible for a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of set up and operations of a mobile supply point, storage of spare parts tooling and test equipment, safety, accountability, and physical security plan. Work involves verifying materials against receiving documents, noting/reporting discrepancies, and housekeeping, The Logistics Specialist reports to Site Manager to develop a mobile supply point storage plan, routing materials to prescribed storage locations, storing, stacking, palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed methods, shipment preparations in accordance with regulatory guidelines, rearranging materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration/damage (if required). In addition, the use of hand tools, powered equipment, and material handling equipment, copier, and computer software (Microsoft Office) is routine. The person selected for this position must possess excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Must be able to function as part of a team or individually as situation dictates.
Position involves working primarily in an outdoor environment which includes periodic overtime, exposure to heat, dust, cold, and inclement weather conditions and will require the operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in performing various warehousing functions and obtain operators qualification. Knowledge of the Army /Navy/ Marine Corp supply system preferred. Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50+ lbs., pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, climbing and reaching. May be required to handle hazardous material / hazardous waste and the use of personal protective equipment as required.
At times you will be required to work alone and be responsible for your area of operations and provide status on material, shop operations, critical shortages, site reports, conference calls and transportation updates. These task will require you to be organized and meticulous while using several different reporting matrix for tracking and status updates.
This position is located in the Continental United States. This position will support Testing and Evaluation in a competitive environment and therefore requires a high level of commitment to succeed as a team. Travel will be required to contractor and governmental test sites, BAE Systems facilities and other locations supporting program requirements. (Primary base of operations locations are Aberdeen Md. and Camp Pendleton Ca.)
Minimum Education and Experience Must be a high school graduate and be able to communicate effectively with people. Required Skills and Education Must be able to achieve/obtain a favorable government secret clearance to begin work and gain entrance to test facilities.
Must possess a current state driver’s license, CDL would be a plus.
Must be able to work in harsh weather conditions when required. Must be able to work overtime and on weekends and holidays
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Knowledgeable of Army / Navy/ Marine Corp supply program
Preferred Skills and Education Two year college degree, with 10 years of warehouse and external work site experience
