We are seeking a motivated, customer focused, Linux Systems Administrator to join our highly respected, experienced Cedalion Operations & Sustainment team. As part of the team, you will use your knowledge and experience to provide Tier II and III support in a Red Hat Linux environment. You will provide operations support including technical investigation, troubleshooting, workarounds and emergency fixes to keep the Cedalion system operating in a 16x5 environment. The successful candidate will interface with other system segments of the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG) to maintain softcopy product availability and maintain JACORB transaction management. The successful candidate will use his/her knowledge and experience to:

•Apply problem solving to identify and resolve a wide array of complex system issues
•Monitor system health and respond to problems, as required
•Assist end users with the use of the system and applications
•Interface with Cedalion development contractor for problem resolution and to ensure enterprise system availability
•The candidate will capture and document problems through investigative techniques and provide information in the form of PBIs (Problem Based Incidents)
•Recommend and develop new processes and tools to enhance system monitoring and troubleshooting
The system administrator will: maintain system security and troubleshoot system and software problems; Establish and update procedures and documentation; Analyze, correct and test software related issues; Provide software related support to customers; Develop, compile, test and deploy custom scripting to user specifications for problem resolution; and performs routine system preventative and restorative maintenance. The successful candidate will also participate in technical exchanges meetings (TEMs) with various Government Technical Officers and external customers to determine needed software of hardware modifications or future capabilities related to data management or data validation.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
•5 - 8 years relevant experience or equivalent relevant experience.
•3+ years of experience with Unix/Linux server administration
•Comprehensive knowledge of internetworking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, firewalls, LAN/WAN
•Strong written/verbal communications, problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills - ability to document and share information
•Knowledge of IT security concepts and practices, including familiarity with technical modifications and documentation required to obtain/maintain Government customer System Security Accreditation.
•Ability to work flexible shifts when necessary to support mission critical activiites

Preferred Skills and Education
•6+ years of relevant experience or equivalent relevant experience.
•Knowledge of Cedalion and other systems and segments of the NSG
•Security + certification
