Lead Product Sustainment Electrical Engineer

Job Description
BAE Systems is experiencing continued growth in our Electro-optic, Infrared, and precision guidance markets and we are seeking experienced, highly motivated Hardware Engineers to join our team. At BAE Systems we design, develop, and manufacture highly sophisticated electronic solutions that service a variety of product areas for government and commercial customers. The qualified applicant will take on a leadership role with technical responsibilities associated with the production, delivery, and sustainment of military products at our Austin, Texas location.
The individual selected for this position will be an experienced engineer with diverse technical capabilities and proven "hands-on" electrical engineering expertise with products in the production and sustainment phases of their life cycle. The individual must be a strong leader with demonstrated product engineering experience associated with complex integrated military avionics/electronic hardware and related Manufacturing process and test equipment.

The selected candidate will be expected to lead and execute in a small team environment composed of multi-disciplined engineers and manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain personnel. The engineer will be a seasoned engineer who has experience with robust military electronics hardware, able to perform circuit and CCA design and analysis, technical trade studies, analog/digital/mixed signal interface design/analysis, reverse engineer legacy designs, component selection, evaluation of alternate Manufacturing processes to preserve design intent, evaluation of technology insertion/upgrades, and laboratory test and troubleshooting.

With a focus on owning the product, the individual will actively collaborate with operations/manufacturing personnel to develop solutions that achieve/exceed UPC, DFT, and DFM requirements. Additionally, the engineer will support resolution of technical issues that are discovered during manufacture and test of deliverable hardware. This will include evaluating and troubleshooting LRU and circuit card level issues, assess test faults for root cause, identify/disposition corrective actions, and evaluate test equipment performance and integrity.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
•Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years of experience OR a Master's Degree and 10+ years of applicable experience
•10+ years of demonstrated experience in Product development and sustainment support of DoD military electronics/avionics equipment
•Proven team leader with strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Demonstrated experience in Product/Factory Support of DoD military electronics/avionics equipment with a focus on continuous improvement
•Proven experience in working through technical and delivery issues associated with obsolescence, new technology insertion, process improvements, supplier issues, quality issues, UPC/cost reduction targets, and aggressive delivery schedule ramp ups.
•Solid engineering fundamentals with digital/analog/mixed signal electronics, components, and interface/communication standards.
•Strong "hands-on" troubleshooting and laboratory experience with instrumentation, equipment, and processes
•Experience in the design, test, troubleshooting, and manufacture of complex multi-layer electronic circuit card assemblies
•Experience with state-of-the-art electrical engineering development tools
•Motivated self-starter and problem solver with proven experience executing in diverse multi-disciplinary teams
•Eligible to obtain a DOD Security Clearance

Preferred Skills and Education

Current "hands-on" experience with Cadence state-of-the-art electrical engineering development tools

Working knowledge of VHDL

Certified Six-Sigma Black-Belt
